If they fail any winners from this week will play for an even larger bonus next Saturday.

The anonymous bonus hunter, a man in his 60s, staked £2 in a Coral betting shop and collected £412,961 after being the only person to pick all six winners in last Saturday’s Scoop6. He will take his haul to nearly £1.3 Million if he can select the victor of tomorrow’s bonus race. Such a payout would make him one of the biggest single winners in betting shop history.

The man, from Nuneaton, is looking forward to Saturday saying “I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to win such a life changing amount of money this weekend. It’s what everyone who plays the Scoop6 dreams of. If I go on to win this extra money, maybe a big holiday is on the cards. I’m so happy I won so much last Saturday and it proves what a fantastic bet the Scoop6 continues to be.”

totepool spokesman Andrew Griffiths added “Tomorrow could be one of the biggest days in Scoop6 history and we’re looking forward to it. It was a fantastic achievement to win more than £400,000 for just £2 and we hope our bonus hunter carries his good form into the bonus race.”

Remember, if he fails to find the bonus race winner then any winners of this Saturday’s Scoop6 will get to play for an even bigger bonus next Saturday.

All 6 races of the Scoop6 will be shown live on Channel 4 this weekend making it a great time to give it a go.

£2 Punter Wins £412,961 on the Scoop6.

A single ticket managed to select all 6 winners of last Saturday’s Scoop6 races and that was placed as a single £2 line by a Coral shop punter in Nuneaton. Their prize was £411,959 for selecting the 6 winners and and extra £1,002 as their share of the place fund.

The lucky Nuneaton resident, in his 60s, will now get the chance to win the £878,562 Scoop6 bonus fund by finding the winner of a selected race this Saturday. Details of that race, and the other Scoop6 races, will be posted on this site on Friday afternoon.

Totepool spokesman Mark Pearson said “We are delighted a small staking punter has landed this life changing amount and if they can scoop the bonus next week it would take their winnings to £1,290,525 which would be a record for a British betting shop.”

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, spoke to Simon Clare from Coral and said “I don’t always do the Scoop6 but I thought I’d have a go given how much money was at stake. I was working for the first three races, but then my daughter rang me to say they’d all won, so I watched the fourth and fifth races on telly, and then had to go out so followed the final leg on the Racing Post website commentary. When the final horse won I didn’t really know what to think and was amazingly calm.”

“I saw the Betfred PR man quoted saying a ‘lucky’ punter had won the Scoop6 and I thought to myself, I wasn’t lucky, I’ve managed to pick six winners out of six. That’s skill not luck. I’ve always been a punter. It’s in my genes as my dad was a bookies runner and my grandparents liked a flutter on the gee-gees, and I’ve been betting on horse racing since before I was 18.”

When asked about next Saturday’s shot at the £878,562 bonus, the successful punter said, “I have chatted with a pal who follows racing closely too and we expect that the bonus race will be the Imperial Cup. We agreed to keep an eye on what David Pipe is running. Martin Pipe always used to have something for the Imperial Cup/Cheltenham bonus and won the race many times so his son might have something lined up.”

The man has not made any plans how to spend the £412,961 he has won, or thought what he would do if he won the £878,562 bonus.

“My three daughters are already excitedly coming up with things to spend the money on but I have spoken to the wife and we’ll just put in the building society and decide from there. You come into the world with nothing and you leave it with nothing, so we’ll definitely use it to enjoy life and new experiences.” he concluded.

Simon Clare, who spoke at length to the customer, said, “He is the most deserving winner imaginable. He has been a regular punter for over forty years and an enthusiastic lifelong supporter and fan of horse racing. If you get out of life what you put into it, then it is entirely fitting that horse racing has rewarded this individual with a life-changing win. That said, as he pointed out quite firmly, this win wasn’t down to luck. He picked his six selections very carefully and his win was down to skill.”

If his luck, sorry, skill runs out and he fails to find the winner of the bonus race any winners of this Saturday’s Scoop6 will play for an even larger bonus next week.

In the unlikely event of Haydock being abandoned, the bonus race will move to Ascot for the 3:15 Great British Drama Handicap Hurdle. If they fail any winners from this week will play for an even larger bonus next Saturday.

Geraldine Hughes, 67 from Hoylake, picked all 6 winners last Saturday, using the age old technique of choosing horses with nice names including 33/1 outsider Splash Of Ginge in the big race of the day at Newbury.

Mother-of-six Geraldine said “It’s been a fantastic few days and I’ve not been able to sleep since the win. I’ve had four winners before, but never had all six. My best wins before this have been a few hundred pounds on the placepot. This is life changing for us and now we’ve got a £702,000 bonus to aim for on Saturday in the Betfred Grand National Trial at Haydock and I really cannot believe that.”

Betfred boss Fred done commented “Our biggest ever female Scoop6 winner was Agnes Haddock – who landed £688,620 after placing her £2 Scoop6 in the Betfred shop in Northwich, Cheshire, in February 2007. But if Geraldine lands the bonus like Aggie did then she will take her crown as Britain’s most successful female gambler on the horses and all for just 2 quid.”
